Online traffic: how do you attract the right visitors to your website?

A well visited website; that’s something we all want. But how do you make sure you attract truly relevant visitors for your brand? In this short blog I’ll tell you exactly how!

Quality beats quantity

From a traditional marketing perspective, brands wanted to grab the attention of clients and prospects as much as possible; often even in a blatant way. But as a marketer or entrepreneur you should ask yourself the question: is this still the case in our increasingly digital society? What things should you pay attention to in order to attract the attention of your ideal audience without being perceived as annoying?

If you look at the world of marketing and sales, something significantly changed; nowadays it is not necessarily about who has the most (fake) followers on social media or the largest e-mail database. No, it is really all about being relevant to the right users and visitors. Content marketing can be used to produce relevant stuff for your (soon to be) clients.

According to the Content Marketing Institute, “Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.” It is key to know what content you should produce and when you should push it.

GIMOTA: Get In Mind Of Target Audience

High quality content is important for your brand, not only because it helps you build up trust, generate leads, and encourage customer loyalty, but also because it has become the “new normal” from the consumer side. Whether you are a marketer, entrepreneur or salesperson, you should continuously be trying to understand the world from the perspective of your prospective buyer. When it comes to trying to reach people online, it is for example extremely important that, if this isn’t quite your cup of tea, you have someone who helps you with copywriting.

Copywriting is the act or occupation of writing text for the purpose of marketing. The written content aims to increase brand awareness and ultimately persuade a person or group to take a particular action. Copywriters can help you with writing persuasive texts for your website, emails, proposals, apps, social media, brochures and so forth.

When doing copywriting in today’s digital world, it is important to both have an understanding of psychology and SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Well written texts account for relevant visitors as well as more conversions. In this way, the knife cuts both ways: you need less traffic and the traffic that you receive will be more likely to make the next step in the conversion funnel.

Authority Positioning

Authority Positioning is another way of making sure you attract relevant prospects. It is “a strategy for bringing an entrepreneur (or brand) out of obscurity by teaching all of the nuances of the solution you provide to your prospects on trusted platforms, thus, amplifying their expertise to a position of prestige”. There are many advantages to establishing yourself or your brand as an expert in the industry that you are operating in. An air of authority makes the average person more likely to accept what that person or organisation says. You can for example see this in commercials that use doctors, of course all suited up in their magisterial doctor uniform, to front their ad campaigns. Content marketing and copywriting can in turn be used to produce high quality pieces of communication that give you or your brand the impression of authority.
